about

Samuel Sahlieh (b. 1982) is a musician, composer, and sound producer based in Buenos Aires. He studied at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina, completing a Bachelor's Degree in Film Scoring and Music Production.

Sahlieh is known for his versatile practice encompassing academic and experimental composition, popular music production, and sound design. His work integrates diverse genres, forging a singular ability to collaborate and lead across vastly different artistic and human contexts. In 2016 he co-founded Le Palm, a recording studio and synthesizer laboratory which served as a comprehensive hub for his work in production, mixing, mastering, and artist management. In 2024 he established dora.sound, a new studio, and Dora Sound Press, an independent publishing platform, dedicated to recording and presenting works by contemporary composers, improvisers, and sound artists through which he continues his work focusing on synthesizer research, recording, audio post-production, and composition.

His early, research-driven work in experimental music was presented at significant venues and festivals. In 2010, he formed a duo with composer and performer Victor Grinenco, dedicated to free improvisation and noise. They performed at the Tsonami Sound Art Festival in Santiago and Valparaíso, Chile; the Contemporary Music Concert Series at the Teatro San Martín in Buenos Aires; and the city-wide cultural event La Noche en Vela at Plaza Francia, Recoleta. He has also shared the stage with local and international experimental artists such as Leonel Kaplan, Christof Kurzmann, Alexander Elgier, Javier Areal Vélez, Juan José Calarco, Alma Laprida, and Guido Flichman, performing at different venues within the Buenos Aires experimental scene, including una.casa.club, La Paternal Espacio-Proyecto & Roseti, among others.

His work in academic music features collaborations with premier institutions. He performed as a synthesist in the chamber opera Don Juan at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires (2016) and returned to the same house to mix the hexaphonic electronics for Diarios de viaje for electronics and ensemble by Santiago Villalba (2022). His extensive choral career includes early membership in the Coro de Cámara Zahir, directed by Diego Boero, and performing with the Bicentennial National Youth Choir of Argentina across the country's most important theatres. As a singer of the chamber vocal ensemble Musicaquantica, under the direction of Camilo Santostefano, he was part of the prizewinning ensemble at the Florilège Vocal de Tours (France, 2012) and the Grand Prix Ave Verum in Baden (Austria, 2012), and also a finalist at the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing in Arezzo (Italy, 2013). Throughout his choral career, he has performed under the direction of Camilo Santostefano, Diego Boero, Lucas Echániz, Mariano Moruja, Alejo Pérez, and Miguel Ángel Pesce.

In popular music, he has worked in various roles—including production, recording, mixing, and performance—for a range of artists such as Juan Pablo de Lucca, Dharma y Flora, Ignacio Arigós, Fácil, Bula Machine, and Sergio Aura. His practice extends to audiovisual and performance fields, composing original music and designing sound for short films, video art, dance, and theatre. Since 2023, he has collaborated closely with filmmaker Cristóbal Bouey on the short films Moi Lointaine and Femme aux Foyers as his primary creative partnership in film, as well as on the feature film Te amo, Antoño (BAFICI, 2026) by director Tamara Leschner.

His discography is available through labels including Creative Sources, Impulsive Habitat, and Pakapi Records.
